Presenter: Melanie Scott
Melanie Scott, LMFT,
Melanie is a licensed marriage and family therapist, supervisor, and a co-owner of a thriving group practice. Known for her down-to-earth approach, she brings warmth, genuineness, and humor to everything she does–whether she’s working with clients, training therapists, or supervising clinicians.
Melanie is endlessly curious and passionate about learning, which means you will probably find her at a clinical training. She is formally trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT-Core Skills), Internal Family Systems (IFS level 1), and EMDR. Melanie has observed how attachment theory underlies so many of the struggles her clients have, and she has a passion for helping her clients understand their own attachment lens. She works with both individuals and couples, specializing in relationship dynamics and trauma, two areas that often overlap. She earned her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Arizona State University, which as a Tempe native, was a lifelong goal.
In addition to her clinical work, Melanie is an AZBBHE approved supervisor to intern and associate therapists, supporting the next generation of clinicians with compassion and clinical depth. Melanie co-owns Collaborative Counseling Institute with Amanda Mowbray, LMFT. Melanie and Amanda met in their MFT program cohort and one day at brunch decided that starting a group practice would be fun. Collab is a group practice dedicated to helping train new clinicians, starting from internship all the way to practicing as supervisors. They work in collaboration with Patricia Dobratz at Clinical Best Practice Institute, and offer trainings dedicated to starting a new therapy practice.
Melanie currently resides in North Mesa with her husband of 28 years. She loves the emerging adulthood stage of parenting her 4 adult children. She often spends her time floating in her pool, mountain biking, paddleboarding, or any other activity that lets her soak up the Arizona sun, with sunscreen of course.
